Who we are

Chart Chic (chartchic.uk) is operated by Yvonne Ward, trading as Chart Chic, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For anything to do with this policy or your data, contact us at support@chartchic.uk.

Information we collect

We collect information you give us directly, and nothing more than that:

  • Account details: your email address, and a password if you sign up that way (we never see or store this — Supabase Auth handles it securely). If you sign up with Google, we receive your name and profile photo from your Google account.
  • Profile details (optional): a display name, profile photo, short bio, location, and Facebook or website links, if you choose to add them. These are public: they appear on your profile card next to any review you leave, so anyone visiting the site can see them. Only add what you’re happy to share, and you can edit or remove it any time from your account page.
  • Order details: which patterns you’ve bought and how much you paid, so we can give you access to your downloads and order history.
  • Reviews: the star rating and any comment you leave on a pattern you’ve bought.
  • Stitch tracker progress: if you use the stitch tracker while signed in, we save your progress to your account: which stitches you’ve marked, your park markers and view settings, the project’s name and file name, and a fingerprint of the chart so progress is only ever applied to the right pattern. The pattern PDFs you open are read in your browser and never uploaded to us. If you aren’t signed in, your progress stays in your browser only. Removing a project removes its progress.
  • Messages you send us: anything you tell us through the contact form or a “problem with this chart” report, including your name and email if you provide them.

We don’t run advertising or third-party tracking tools on this site. The only browsing information we collect is a simple, anonymous count of how many times each page is viewed, so we can see roughly how many people visit. It doesn’t use cookies and isn’t linked to you or your account.

Payment information

All payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details — Stripe handles that entirely on its own secure systems, in line with card industry security standards.

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account, and remember your bag/wishlist
  • To keep your stitch tracker progress, so you can carry on from any device
  • To process payments and deliver your pattern downloads
  • To show your review (and profile card, if you’ve filled one in) to other shoppers
  • To respond to your messages and support requests
  • To send you occasional marketing emails about new patterns or offers, but only if you’ve opted in — you can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any such email
  • To meet our legal obligations, such as keeping records for tax purposes

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers to run Chart Chic, each of whom only processes what they need to do their job:

  • Stripe — payment processing
  • Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage
  • Vercel — website hosting
  • Brevo — sending emails (account, order, and marketing emails)

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t share it with anyone else for their own marketing purposes. Some of these providers may store or process data outside the UK/EEA (for example, in the US); where that happens, they do so under recognised legal safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data, though we keep basic order/sales records for as long as UK tax law requires (currently up to 6 years) — these are kept for accounting purposes only.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, object to or restrict how we use it, and request a copy in a portable format. Most of this you can already do yourself from your account page. For anything else, email support@chartchic.uk and we’ll sort it out. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) if you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data.

Cookies

See our Cookie Policy for details on what we store in your browser and why.

Children

Chart Chic isn’t directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time — if we make significant changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
